I am a union leader and freelance bassist who believes deeply in the values of advocacy and service. For more than a decade, I have worked as the Secretary-Treasurer, first in Washington, D.C., Local 161-710, and now in Baltimore, Local 40-543, helping members and addressing the challenges that unions face every day.

When I assumed the role in Washington, I inherited significant administrative and operational challenges that required immediate attention. Through careful financial management, improved administrative systems, and a commitment to transparency and organization, I helped strengthen the local’s operation and build a foundation for long-term stability.

In Washington, I had the opportunity to advocate for musicians on Capitol Hill. I organized members to appear in support of the Butch Lewis Act and for the introduction of the American Music Fairness Act. I also met with several members of congress at the request of then Legislative Director Alfonso Pollard. I am now currently on the board of the Maryland State and D.C. AFL-CIO where I continue to advocate for legislation important to labor unions.

I am a 35+ year veteran bass player working in the D.C./Baltimore metro area. I received a B.M. from Indiana University (Hoo, Hoo, Hoo – Hoosiers!) and a M.M. from Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University where I studied with Larry Hurst and Hal Robinson. I began my career in the orchestras for the national tour of the musical “Gypsy,” and the European tour of “My One and Only.” I am currently acting principal bassist with the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra. I was asst. principal bass with the Baltimore Opera Company for 15 years and have played with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra, Washington National Opera Orchestra, The Royal Philharmonic and many other local groups. I have played on multiple recordings and appeared on several television specials, including one of the last Victor Borga PBS programs.
